![]() he worked on the Bar-J most of his life. He roped many a steer and busted lots of broncs; he ate a lot of dust, even wrote a couple songs. He's always been a private man, who rarely speaks a word; but if somethin' needs sayin',he always makes it heard. He's a gentle kind of guy, a heart of solid gold -- but when you get him riled, it can turn mighty cold. He never had a lot of friends -- he preferred to be alone; but as days pass into years, he thinks about a home. What might have been his life, makes him get a little sad; he dreams about a pretty wife, and kids to call him 'Dad'. Well, Jake's luck just took a turn, while at a dance the other night; he saw a girl there dancing -- her golden hair gleamed in the light. Jake introduced himself to the gal who'd caught his eye; she said her name was Trudy, and she blushed -- she was kinda shy. He asked her for a dance or two, and they two-stepped most the night; even when the music stopped, they danced 'til morning's light! Jake knew he'd FOUND that girl he'd waited for all his life; and before their dance had ended,he'd asked her to be his wife! Jake and Trudy were married, the very day after they met; now it's five years later, and they still have no regret. After all those years of loneliness, Jake now HAS that dream he had -- a wife to love, and a couple of kids: someone to call him 'Dad'!
